How Gloucester County Supports the United Way
Each year a number of companies within the community make generous contributions to United Way of Gloucester County. In doing so, they are showing their commitment to needy people in Gloucester County.
A number of Gloucester County employers provide their workers an opportunity to join in supporting our community through Employee Campaigns. Many of these donors are members of the Alexis de Tocqueville and Founders Societies. These supporters each contribute at least $1,000.00, given either through a company’s employee campaign or by an individual or physician in the community…for Campaign 2021 their generosity totaled $209,927! For a breakdown of Campaign 2021 ADT and Founders givers by organization and company, please check out (PDF SOON TO COME!)
An Employee Campaign is easy to organize; help is available from United Way staff and loaned executives, who will walk employers through each step…simply call 856.845.4303 x1. Payroll deduction is the easiest way to give, spreading your gift across the year. In addition, everything you need to run an Employee or Workplace Campaign can be found in our Campaign Toolkit.
Thanks for Giving Program
Donors who contribute at the Fair Share/County Contributor level or higher (at least 0.6% of annual pay) will be entered into the Thanks for Giving raffle drawings. The prizes range from a $1,000 grand prize travel voucher to gift cards in the amounts of $50 and $100 to stores such as Wawa, Target, ShopRite, and Wal-Mart. These prizes are sponsored by our corporate partners…for Campaign 2021 they are:
- Edward Jones
- Hungerford & Terry
- Logan Generating Plant
- Chambers Cogeneration
- Paulsboro Refining Company
- Solvay Specialty Polymers
After the extraordinarily rough couple of years we’ve all had, we believe we’re more than ready to emerge to greet the new dawn stronger than ever, how about you? We are all glad that this pandemic is finally in somewhat of a retreat and will continue down that path during 2022.
2020 and 2021 were challenging in so many ways. The pandemic took its toll, of course, as families were uprooted and torn apart, and many lives were tragically lost. But people suffered in other ways not seen before too. People who never needed a helping hand before needed one in 2020, as businesses were forced to close, unemployment became rampant, and savings were depleted trying to keep food on the table. Our community began its slow rebound in 2021, continuing into 2022, but much need still remains.
Charities continued to take a huge hit in 2021 as well. Because there was so much hardship, people struggled to make sure that their families’ needs were understandably met first, leaving little if any left for charity. Accordingly, our own campaign was down by almost a third, which necessitated far smaller allocation disbursements to our 22 partner agencies.
Being a United Way sponsor is an excellent way of supporting the work we do within Gloucester County. Please make the commitment to participate by downloading our Campaign Sponsorship Form 2021, and be part of the change our community so desperately needs. Your sponsorship of the annual fundraising campaign will go towards:
• Updating and printing campaign materials, such as pledge forms, brochures, and posters
• Our annual Campaign Kickoff, which this year was held in person on 8/19/21 at RiverWinds.
• Designing and printing the annual report
• Our Annual Volunteer Leadership Event, typically held each spring to thank and recognize our volunteers and supporters, and slated to be held in May 2022
For more information, please contact Donna Murphy at email@example.com or (856) 845-4303 ext. 180. Thank you for helping to meet the needs of our ever changing community! Together, we are Building Better Lives.
Whether for United Way or for another organization, volunteering is a great way to get involved in your community. Sharing of your time and expertise – whether driving an elderly neighbor to a doctor’s appointment or mentoring a young person – truly makes a difference.
Your donation to United Way of Gloucester County supports local programs that are nurturing our children, empowering people with disabilities and providing basic needs for those who call Gloucester County home. Thank you for giving generously to your community!
Thank you for joining us!
