“LIVE UNITED” Mini-Grant Request
Description, Focus, Criteria, Requirements, Process
Narrative/ Summary:
The United Way of Gloucester County (UWGC) is looking to provide financial support to small non-profits located in and serving residents of Gloucester County. It is our goal to provide one-time competitive grants up to $1,000 to support the work of agency programs that are making a difference in people’s lives here in our community. Please read through the information provided below for guidelines and the timetable. Only completed applications received by the deadline will be accepted. The purpose of the LIVE UNITED Mini-Grant Program is to provide a simple process for funding great programs that serve residents throughout Gloucester County. The program offers funding support beyond the standard UWGC allocations process to remain responsive to nonprofit organizations and community needs.
Grant Focus:
Grants will be awarded on a one-time basis to support community programs. The Grant could be used to supplement/enhance an ongoing program or for a critical one-time need. Preference will be given to applicants with a focus on supporting the UWGC community priorities related to education, financial empowerment, and/or health. The agency should not currently be receiving funds via the standard allocations process.
Education: Efforts that prepare and/or support school-age children in early education, youth development, which promote academic success, increased high school graduation rates, life skills, and successful advancement to post-secondary education and/or career pursuits.
Financial Stability: Efforts that promote financial literacy, stability, and asset building; provide families and individuals with life skills that support financial responsibility, credit management, job training, and employment assistance. These efforts include assistance with basic needs.
Health: Efforts that promote access to healthcare or health coverage and/or health education; provide resources for preventative measures; and programming designed to combat childhood obesity.
A critical need may also include the purchase of supplies/equipment, and/or provision for staff training that is essential for program operations. Please note: A critical need does not include a contribution to a capital campaign, fundraising, deficit funding, or routine operational expenses.
Submission is limited to one application for one program per agency.
Eligibility Criteria:
UWGC will only consider funding applicants who meet the following criteria:
• The organization must be a non-profit 501(c)3
• Must have a physical location and provide services to residents of Gloucester County
• Local organization, not a part of a national organization
• The organization’s gross receipts must be less than $2,000,000 on the most recent 990
Agencies that are not currently funded UWGC Partner Agency are encouraged to apply.
Incomplete applications will not be reviewed.
Key Dates & Timeline:
• June 2, 2025 – 2025 LIVE UNITED Mini-Grant application opens.
• July 31, 2025 – Completed application and supporting documents due to UWGC by 4:00 PM (application closes)
• By September 30, 2025 – Email notification of funding awards & grant award amounts
• By October 7, 2025 – Grant awards will be mailed to award recipients.
• January 15, 2026 – Outcome Report due to United Way of Gloucester County
Application Requirements:
A complete application contains the following:
1. Completed Form as a “Word” document.
2. Submit a copy of the 501(c)3 tax-exempt form from the IRS showing your agency’s EIN number
3. A copy of the IRS 990, 990 EZ, or 990 N form
4. Completed and Signed Anti-Terrorism Form 2025 (included in mailing)
5. Submission of Agency Logo for Marketing Materials
