UNITED WAY OF GLOUCESTER COUNTY

The United Way of Gloucester County (UWGC) is honored to have Amber Burruezo to spearhead the organization’s fundraising efforts as the 2021 Campaign Chair. Burruezo began volunteering with the United Way in 2013 serving on the Campaign Cabinet as well as the Event Committee. She was recognized for her time, talent and treasure as the 2016 Spirit of United Way Award recipient. She is currently the Senior Communications Specialist at Atlantic City Electric.
Burruezo’s passion for giving back to the community made her an ideal fit for this leadership role; starting her volunteerism journey at the age of 18 as a board member for the Volunteer Center of South Jersey and Gloucester County 4-H. Burruezo also spends time volunteering and supporting the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, including cycling each year in Bike MS: City to Shore.
Michael Gower, Executive Director of United Way of Gloucester County, said, “Amber Burruezo has long been a supporter of what we do so I’m thrilled to welcome her as this year’s Campaign Chair. She has been a volunteer, advocate and donor for our organization. She truly believes in the mission of the United Way and she is passionate about giving back and helping others. We are extremely lucky to have such a caring member of the community to lead this year’s appeal.”
The United Way made a personal impact for Burruezo as a child when her family sought assistance from partner agencies, such as the food bank, during times of unemployment or medical crisis.
“I am honored to be selected as the 2021 Campaign Chair,” said Burruezo. “My parents taught me from a young age to pay it forward, make a difference and help others when you can. Being the campaign chair gives me the opportunity to support an organization making a huge impact on the Gloucester County community while also giving back. I am also lucky to work for a company like Atlantic City Electric, that supports volunteerism and empowers its employees to make an impact for the organizations that mean the most to them.”
Burruezo will attend the United Way’s Annual Campaign Kickoff, welcoming event attendees and volunteers. The Kickoff will be held at RiverWinds Community Center on Thursday, August 19th at 5 p.m. This is a free community event where attendees can enjoy food, face painting, mini games and family fun. Employees from local companies and organizations will engage in friendly competition. It marks the official launch of the annual fundraising appeal.
