2012 Spirit of United Way Award Recipients

Three volunteers will receive the Spirit of United Way Award, honoring those individuals who exemplify the depth of caring in our community. This award is a tribute to those who demonstrate a special spirit and dedication to meet the needs of our community. The United Way graciously acknowledges the lasting impact of their outstanding efforts.

James Wood (l) and Rick Pyle, both employees of ExxonMobil, are being honored for spending countless hours on the production, direction and editing of our 2011 United Way of Gloucester County campaign film. From going out on location, to screenwriting, narration, cue cards, editing and behind the scenes decisions, their efforts were tireless. We applaud and recognize their creative and artistic talents over the years, both with film production, and the taping of our annual Battle of the Corporate Stars each August.

Linda Sweeten is our third Spirit Award winner for 2012. Lin is assistant Dean of Rowan University's College of Communications. She has a long history with our United Way in many capacities, beginning as Employee Campaign Manager for Rowan, followed by Allocations Panel Member, Loaned Executive, chairperson of our Marketing and Communications Committee, and most recently as a member of our Board of Directors. She has also been instrumental in connecting United Way to several Rowan student groups.
